Mercedes-Benz has introduced the fully-imported AMG E53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet, which costs Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom). It's one of only a few convertible sedans available in India, and it's a performance-oriented one at that.

Mercedes-Benz AMG E53

The AMG E53 Cabriolet is based on the two-door E-Class coupe, which isn't available in the United States. It has an acoustic all-season soft top that, when pulled up, provides a calm atmosphere. If you prefer to keep the top down, it also comes with AIRCAP, which is a retractable wind deflector that can keep the top down while driving as quietly as possible. Because of the AIRCAP, you can primarily use the rear two seats.

Mercedes-Benz has equipped the AMG E53 Cabriolet with a 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. The AMG engine produces 435PS and 520Nm, with an e-boost option that adds 22PS and 250Nm. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and has an electronically regulated top speed of 250 km/h.

The Cabriolet also boasts Mercedes' 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive technology, which can send up to 100 percent power to the rear wheels through buttons. AMG adaptive sport suspension, 3-stage ESP, dynamic cornering help, AMG brake system, and AMG Sport exhaust system are among the other performance-enhancing features.

In terms of comforts, the convertible has powered front sport seats, an AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, 64-color LED ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment and instrument cluster display, and a Burmester sound system. 7 airbags, active brake help, blind spot monitoring, and parking assist ensure your safety.

There is currently no other performance convertible in this price range. In any case, convertibles are nearly gone in India. However, it is reassuring to know that Mercedes has purchased at least one of these.
