9 Upcoming Cars In India 2023
In the year 2022, electric cars have been launched in considerable quantity. With the recent spurt in the use of EVs, automakers are planning to launch their lineup of electric vehicles across segments. Here is a list of upcoming electric vehicles in India which may be launched in 2023.
Mahindra XUV400 EV -
All the details of Mahindra's electric offering, the XUV400 EV are out. Its price will also be told in January 2023. It gets a 39.4kWh battery pack that will make 150PS and 350Nm and has an ARAI-certified range of 456km.
It will rival the Tata Nexon EV Max and EV Prime, with MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric being the options.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 -
Hyundai is all set to launch its second electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5 in India. The Ioniq 5 shares its platform with the Kia EV6, which means both are based on the EV-specific E-GMP platform.
The India-spec Ioniq 5 gets a 72.6kWh battery pack with a single (rear-wheel-drive) electric motor. Which is rated 217PS and 350Nm. The ARAI claimed range of this electric crossover from Hyundai is 631 km. It will compete with the Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
MG Air EV -
India's largest electric car manufacturer, Tata has unveiled an electric to the punch as its next electric offering. It is positioned between the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV Prime. Let us tell you that it is built on Tata's ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, which will be the first Tata EV of its kind.
MG will launch its entry-level EV in India, the Air EV to be launched in India in January. The Air EV will also be showcased in MG's lineup at the Auto Expo 2023, though the exact launch date is yet to be revealed. Internationally, the Air EV is sold with two battery packs: 17.3kWh and 26.7kWh, which offer a range of 200km and 300km respectively. The MG micro-EV will compete with the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3 when launched in India.
Citroen eC3 -
Citroën has recently revealed the name of its upcoming electric car in India, which will be sold as the eC3. It will apparently be a compact electric hatchback based on the C3 and is expected to get more features than the ICE variants. A 50kWh battery pack will be provided along with an electric motor capable of producing 136PS and 260Nm for a range of 350km.
A smaller battery pack could also be added to the electric hatchback with a range of around 300 kms.
Tata Punch EV -
India's largest electric car manufacturer, Tata has unveiled an electric to the punch as its next electric offering. It is positioned between the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV Prime. The Punch EV, like most Tata EVs, is expected to come with two battery pack options with a range of up to 350 km.
Skoda Enyaq iV -
Skoda is preparing to bring its first fully electric car to India in the form of the Enyaq iV. Which has been seen during the test here. Its CBU (complete import) will be brought. It is based on the MEB platform, sourced from the VW groups.
This vehicle has been introduced in India with Skoda 77kWh battery pack. Which is its most powerful version electric SUV, which is sold with a power of 305PS.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 -
The India-spec Ioniq 5 will feature a 72.6kWh battery pack. Which will be paired with a single motor of 217PS and 350Nm. There will be a rear-wheel drivetrain and it will get an ARAI claimed range of 631km.
There is a 350kW DC charger that can charge the battery from zero to 80 percent within 18 minutes.
Tata Altroz EV -
It will feature Tata's Ziptron technology packed with a 129PS electric motor. Which will be given a 30.2kWh battery unit. The setup offers an ARAI-claimed range of 312 km.
It can be sold with some additional equipment along with the current features on its ICE powered.
